At Refuge Ark Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities for underprivileged children through targeted programs designed to bridge educational gaps, provide vocational training, and support academic success. Our initiatives focus on empowering children and young adults by removing barriers to learning, fostering personal development, and preparing them for a brighter future.
Here are the key programs we run:
📚 Hawkless Program
Our flagship initiative aims to reintegrate out-of-school children back into the education system. Many children are forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints or family responsibilities, often resorting to street hawking to survive. This program identifies, enrolls, and supports these children, ensuring they get the education they deserve. We have set a goal to enroll 10,000 children in Abuja, Awka, and Ibadan by December 2025.
🏫 School Drop-In Support
Not all children can attend school full-time due to family or economic challenges. Our School Drop-In Support Program provides weekend and evening classes for children who would otherwise miss out on an education. This flexible learning approach ensures that no child is left behind, allowing them to continue learning at their own pace.
📖 Build a Library
A love for reading is a foundation for lifelong learning. Through our Build a Library Program, we partner with schools and communities to create safe, well-equipped spaces for reading and learning. Each library is stocked with age-appropriate books, stationery, and educational materials, fostering literacy and curiosity among young learners.
✏️ Exam Form Support
Financial difficulties should never prevent a child from taking an exam. Our Exam Form Support Program helps students pay for essential examination fees, enabling them to sit for critical tests like WAEC, NECO, JAMB, and other certification exams without financial strain.
🔧 Fund My Vocation
Not all young people pursue traditional education paths, but vocational skills can provide a sustainable livelihood. Our Fund My Vocation Program provides grants for vocational training in fields like tailoring, carpentry, electrical work, digital skills, and entrepreneurship, equipping youth with the skills they need to build a self-sufficient future.
🏛️ Fund a Library
In many schools and communities, access to quality educational infrastructure is lacking. Our Fund a Library Program focuses on renovating, expanding, and supplying libraries with the materials they need to become effective learning hubs. By donating books, technology, and furniture, we create environments where children can learn, explore, and grow.
🎓 Connect to Internships
IYoung people often struggle to transition from education to employment due to a lack of practical experience. Through our Connect to Internships Program, we collaborate with corporate partners and businesses to provide students and vocational trainees with internship placements. IHigher education and specialized training can be financially out of reach for many promising students. Our Connect to Scholarships Program links deserving students to local and international scholarship opportunities.
